Care Ministry

Care Ministry

Our Care Ministry is a vital ministry of Auburn United Methodist Church. It is our responsibility and our joy to care for those connected to our church. Please take a look at our ministries and discover ways you can help us to provide the highest level of Christian love and care to our congregation and community. If you have a prayer request or birth announcement, please fill out the contact form below so we can be praying for you!

Care & Prayer Request

How can we pray for you today? Use this link to submit a request to our care staff. You will have the option of letting us know if this is a private concern or if you would like it shared with our congregation.

Care Ministry Programs

Prayer Ministries

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do at Auburn UMC. It is our joy to turn our hearts to God and speak to Him on a daily basis and know that He listens and responds. We feel that prayer is our primary way of communicating with our Lord, and we feel blessed to serve a God who lovingly allows us to interact with Him in such an intimate way. We have several prayer ministries, all designed to lift up those connected to our church and beyond.

Prayer Pagers

Our Prayer Pager Ministry is excited to offer a new option that allows you to send a prayer message (just like a text message) to our recipients with a cell pager. CLICK HERE for more information about prayer pagers and to see a list of those who we are praying for.

Prayer Chain

Participants receive a phone call when someone shares a critical prayer need with the church staff and requests a prayer chain message to go out. Participants pray for the specific need and call the next person on the chain. There are different chains for day/night.

To be added to the prayer chain, please contact Katharine Manley at katharinem@aumc.net or by calling the church office at 334-826-8800 ext. 222.

Prayer Vigil

Throughout Sunday mornings, participants pray privately in half-hour time slots for the worship services, ministers, Sunday school classes, teachers, and other ministries of the church. Contact Katharine Manley at katharinem@aumc.net or 826-8800 ext. 222.

GriefShare Support Group

Auburn UMC hosts a 12-week GriefShare Support Group twice a year (Fall and Spring). GriefShare is a grief recovery support group that features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. Each session includes a video seminar featuring top grief and recovery experts as well as a small group discussion time about the video content. For more information about when GriefShare will be offered, please contact Rev. Julie Hare at julieh@aumc.net

Ministry to the Homebound
  • Special Friends:  Volunteers provide ongoing visitation to homebound members who are no longer able to attend worship and other church activities. In some cases, this connection goes beyond the congregation to include relatives or acquaintances of members. Special Friends extend the reach of the congregation to persons who need to know they are still loved and a part of the body of Christ. Coordinator: Flavin Glover, 821-7091
  • Communion to the Homebound: Communion elements are consecrated by our pastors and then served in the home by a Deacon. This ministry is available for those unable to attend worship for significant periods. Coordinator: Julie Hare, 826-8800 or Julie.Hare@aumc.net
  • Flower Angels: Flowers used in the sanctuary during worship services are divided and taken by lay volunteers to members who are in the hospital or homebound. A special card accompanies the flowers noting that they were present in worship and carry the love of our congregation to the recipient.
Pet Ministry

Volunteers bring pets that have been certified as gentle and friendly to visit the elderly in care facilities in order to brighten their day.

Veterans Ministry

AUMC offers a ministry for all veterans of the US Armed Forces in the church and community. Those military members presently serving in the Active, National Guard, or Reserve Forces are also welcomed to join in. This ministry offers an avenue for fellowship, mutual support, and sharing information. Coordinator:   John Wingfield at 334-740-3222  or jpwingfield@gmail.com
